Geronimo's Story of His Life

by Geronimo

Published 1906

A real treasure of a little book. I don't think I've read any other books from the perspective of the native people of the Americas, or any other that have really put those perspectives at the fore—editorialised as I think that this one probably was. Feels like the other side of Blood Meridian: where that book elevated the senseless violence to art, Geronimo reduced senseless violence to just another Tuesday.

Heck of a guy, though, riding around out there, living ungovernably, fighting until he couldn't fight any more.
